Spell ME right!

The family. We were a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another's desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together.

Tinnitus

June 3, 2009

What is Tinnitus?

According to Wikipedia, Tinnitus is the perception of sound within the human ear in the absence of

corresponding external sound.

The term tinnitus derives from the Latin word tinnire, meaning to ring. They are best described as a

“whooshing sound”, “beeping sound”,

“crickets”, and many others. Generally, they are NOISES. Some claim that they are not as distracting,

but the unlucky others claim otherwise.

Tinnitus could just be a result of the underlying sickness one could have, they could be intermittent

or worse, they could be ceaseless.

The brain’s tendency to select out loudest sounds heard are the reason why we can measure tinnitus.

Based on the brain’s tendency, we can play sample sounds of known amplitude then ask the patient

which sound he hears.

There are two types of Tinnitus, the SUBJECTIVE TINNITUS (The noise is only in your head) and

the OBJECTIVE TINNITUS (your doctor could hear the noise in your ear with the help of a special instrument).

What are the causes of Tinnitus?

Tinnitus could just be a symptom from a number of underlying variables such as ear infection, wax in the ear and

ear damage due to loud noises, aspirins,

lead or mercury poisoning, middle ear effusion, and others

Can Tinnitus be cured?

Of course they can be! There are many ways to cure your Tinnitus. First, have your their earwax plug cleaned,

then avoid caffeine and alcohol or you could undergo a surgery. But do you know that there is a simple, easy and cheap way

to stop your tinnitus for good?

“Click here to read more about Tinnitus and it’s CURES”  (There is no harm in trying. Get rid of Tinnitus fast).

If you suspect you have tinnitus, please see an ear, nose , throat specialist (otolaryngologist) for tests

because your tinnitus could be a symptom of

other illness. Avoiding Caffeine could help as well as maskers (a small device used to block out the noise of tinnitus with

”White noise”. Don’t forget to set your MP3’s to MODERATE and avoid going to places with loud

noises (music, etc) that could harm your ears. Remember, relaxation can also help since some people with tinnitus find their symptoms worse with stress. And only do self care/ treatment alone

after you’ve seen your doctor.

If you do not have Tinnitus, please help yourself avoid this problem that millions of people are now suffering,

just follow the simple steps mentioned above.

As the old cliche goes, prevention is better than cure.
